Why she was in Australia: She was on a business trip with Jin

Life after she left the island: She bought a majority share of her father's business with the settlement she received from the crash and several months later she gives birth to her baby girl. A few years later she goes to visit Charles Widmore because she knows he is looking for the island and wants to work with him. She decides to go back to the island because Ben informs her that Jin is still alive and well.
